Can I track my laboratory service request status on-line?
YES. When TITAN takes a laboratory service request, we immediately post it to our website. TITAN customers have the ability to log on to our system via the Internet and view the status of their lab requests. Examples of the status types that our customers will be able to view are:
- REQUEST(S) RECEIVED & AWAITING SAMPLE(S)
- SAMPLE(S) RECEIVED / SAMPLE PREPARATION
- CURRENTLY TESTING SAMPLE(S)
- CURRENTLY DRAFTING REPORT(S)
- LABORATORY REQUEST COMPLETE
What is TITAN's typical laboratory turnaround time?
TITAN begins recording its turnaround time when samples are received at our door. Typically, we have turnaround time of 24-48 hours.
Can I submit a laboratory request on-line?
Yes! Our customers have the ability to log on to our web site and fill out a laboratory request completely on-line. This will be automatically processed through our system including electronically preparing the lab report, creating internal work orders, and scheduling our internal processes. Next, we await your samples at our door. And when they arrive, the clock starts for us to provide you with the fastest turnaround time in the business.
Does TITAN perform JK Micro-Cleanliness?
Yes. TITAN performs JK Micro-Cleanliness to ASTM E 45 - Standard Practice for Determining the Inclusion Content of Steel.
Can I have my laboratory report e-mailed to me?
Yes! All of our laboratory reports, including digital images, will be e-mailed to our customers. In addition, customers may request that "hard copies" be sent to them. All laboratory reports will be electronically archived and available to the customer, via logging-on over the Internet, for a period up to two years after completion of the lab report.
Does TITAN perform Jominy testing?
Yes. TITAN performs Jominy Calculations using ASTM A255 (CAT Program).
Does TITAN have contingency planning to outsource laboratory testing if TITAN becomes overloaded or has machine failures?
Yes. TITAN has contingency plans to outsource laboratory services to insure proper turnaround time for our customers in the case of an inability to perform any testing. Part of the contingency plans are to inform the customer as soon a situation arises, and to wait for authorization from the customer before proceeding with any outsourcing of testing.
Does TITAN prepare its own tensile specimens?
Yes! TITAN has its own sample preparation department that machines all of our 0.505" tensile specimens. The suggested minimal length of a sample received at TITAN is 12" long.
Can I request that my sample is returned to me after testing?
Yes. Sometimes, sample preparation and destructive testing can lead to little or no sample material left over. However, if there is material left over, you can request that the material is sent back to you. TITAN will add the shipping cost to your invoice. If you do not request the return of your sample(s), any left over material will be stored at TITAN for up to one year after the completion of testing.
Can I search and review old laboratory requests on-line?
Yes! At TITAN we pride ourself on our electronic savvy. All of our laboratory reports are e-mailed to our customers upon completion. In addition, they are added to our historical database. When our customers log on to our site via the Internet, they are able to search, download, print, and email current and historical lab reports. It is our intent to keep our customers' laboratory reports available for historical lookup for 2 years. In addition, if customers request a longer period of time to store historical data, we are prepared to customize our system where need be to provide the best possible service to our customers.
Does TITAN discount laboratory services for bulk accounts?
Yes! In the spirit of customer loyalty, TITAN would appreciate the opportunity to be competitive. We truly understand the benefit of relationship building, and appropriate discounts for larger volumes of business is one way that TITAN can show appreciation to our customers.
Does TITAN have a Confidentiality Agreement available?
Yes. The following Confidentiality Agreement can be downloaded, signed, and faxed to TITAN at (248) 398-1434. A TITAN representative will sign the agreement and fax it back to you for your records.
Does TITAN have a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) ?
No. Currently TITAN does not have an SEM. However, TITAN has the ability to outsource any SEM analysis. Therefore, if you have numerous samples/testing, and SEM analysis is only a part of it, TITAN will handle all of the logistics to get the SEM analysis completed. Therefore, the customer receives one compiled lab report and one invoice. The prospect of obtaining an SEM has been discussed and is a possible addition to TITAN in the future.
Does TITAN perform Charpy Impact Testing?
Currently, we do not perform Charpy Impact Testing. This is one test that we may perform in the future.
How long has TITAN METALLURGY, L.L.C. been in business?
2003 is TITAN'S first fiscal year. However, our laboratory has been functioning under the Eaton Steel Bar Company for the past 3 years. Eaton Steel was started in 1953, and prides itself on re-investment in capital and continuously exceeding its customers' expectations. In addition, our metallurgical staff has combined experience of more than 60 years in steel related industries. So, although TITAN is new, we're deeply rooted in the steel industry, and our experience in the steel industry is one of our strongest attributes.
